He dismissed our concerns and offered no viable solutions, suggesting we learn to live with it because this is what happens to kids with Autism. The medications he prescribed not only failed to alleviate our daughter's seizures but caused her to have more. Our experience took a remarkable turn when we someone suggested we go and see Dr. Kohilavani at PEACH Neurology. From the moment we walked into her office, we sensed a genuine care and dedication from the staff. She took the time to listen to our concerns and provided us with a wealth of information and guidance with this journey. At every appointment, she speaks directly to my son and explains everything very patiently so he understands his condition and treatment plan. The office staff is friendly and wonderful too. Anytime we call for a prescription refill or any other needs, they return the call in a timely manner. Scheduling regular appointments and EEG procedures also has been a smooth process. I was referred by my kiddos pediatrician to them and from the minute I called them... read more they have been nothing but nice. The receptionist kept in touch until the day of my appointment. The entire staff is awesome, the doctor is so carrying and thorough. The nurse always cheerful even when I talk to her on the phone, she is really nice and professional and I love how she made my son so comfortable at his visit. My son hates going to the Doctor and cries every time but she was patient with him and played with him until he was comfortable. And for that I will recommend Peach neurology to any parent who’s looking for a pediatrics neurologist.

My daughter and our family started this journey a little over two years ago. She was 11 and as far as we knew was perfectly healthy. She had... read more an over 10 minute seizure while in a trampoline park. Luckily, I am a pediatric occupational therapist and recognized the signs to seek immediate care. ER visit, to pediatrician visit, to referral to Dr Vela went quickly. As someone who knows how long it can take to get in with a neurologist, I was ecstatic that we were in within the week and were scheduled for testing in the next few weeks. All of the office staff were friendly from the very beginning. Dr Vela is so knowledgeable and caring to the patient but also the families she supports. Perhaps due to my job, I know a little more than other parents might and she goes through every test, result, and treatment plan in detail. Dr Vela formed a relationship with not only these nervous parents, but with my daughter. Dr Vela takes an interest in both my daughter's academics and sports. She also encourages her to take some responsibility in managing her medication and supplements. We have had regular visits for tests and appointments along the way. Scheduling is easy. When I need refills or information, I just leave a message and someone from the office always gets back to me or is happy to answer my questions. The best compliment I could give about this office besides how well they have walked beside us is when they did not cancel an EEG when a tech was out sick. One of the front desk workers set my daughter up with the electrodes and Dr Vela herself ran the test. I commented how this was unusual and they said they appreciate how hard it is to rearrange our days around appointments and they make every effort not to cancel. I am happy to say my daughter has been seizure free since starting medications and close monitoring from PEACH Neurology. We are currently exploring whether my daughter might be ready to wean from her medications. This entire office is extraordinary and we are so blessed to have this level of clinical expertise and professionalism in Gwinnett County. I have referred others to this practice and would not hesitate to do it again.

She encouraged us to pursue brain surgery in at a children's hospital in another city because they have more expertise with my daughter's specific issues and it was one of the best things we have ever done. My daughters migraines have went from daily to weekly. The reason I gave them four stars is that you can never get in contact with someone when you call in. Out of the eleven times I've called in the past and twice today I've only gotten through twice. Side note: they are good with returning your calls.

The doctor was very personable with our kiddo and such a kind woman who genuinely cares and is passionate about her field. The tech who performed the EEG I'm a little iffy about as she was not so personable nor kid friendly. The jury is still out on the tech - perhaps she was having a bad day - still no excuse. But so far, I am happy with the choice of making Dr. Velayudam our new neurologist. I will share this experience with FB and my special needs parents.
